Illawarra stops traffic to send the government a message: Stop CSG

Lock the Gate’s National Day of Actions saw thousands of Australian’s rally against coal seam gas. In the Illawarra the scenic Sea Cliff bridge was closed to traffic as 3000 locals marched to defend water from CSG mining.

Steve from the Stop CSG team put together a pretty spectacular video, check it out:

Wow… what a day! Over 3000 people walked across the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge in opposition to coal seam gas mining. Simultaneously, abseilers lowered a banner from the escarpment that read: “The community has spoken. Stop CSG!”. Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery, and Councillors George Takacs, Lee Colacino, Bede Crasnich, Vicki Curran, Jill Merrin and Greg Petty all attended the walk.

[This video is] an inspiring record of the coal seam gas protest on October 16 2011 and a message to the NSW Government. The community has spoken. Is the government listening? (via the Stop CSG Illawarra team)
